Sunland Park Delays Approval: More Stores Coming to Border Town

The Sunland Park Planning and Zoning Commission in New Mexico delayed approval for two cannabis businesses—Station X and Cronica—both proposed for Emory Drive, right near the Texas border. Station X is planned as a two-story venue at 420 Emory Dr. with a cannabis dispensary, alcohol service, and an indoor consumption lounge. Its developers claim full compliance with state alcohol and cannabis regulations.

Cronica is proposed at 3801 Emory Dr., just down the road. Community opposition is growing, mainly due to the proximity to Texas, where cannabis remains illegal. Critics warn the setup might encourage out-of-state traffic, potentially drawing police attention and damaging the city’s and state’s reputation.
