Yerba Cannabis Co. is a small, craft cannabis farm nestled in Questa, New Mexico, led by Michael Nezi, an Ohio native who found his true calling amidst the rugged beauty of the high desert. Since 1991, Michael has been growing organically leveraging New Mexico’s natural terroir (tare-wah); vibrating energy, cool air, and mountain spring water, focusing on quality over quantity—no investors, no shortcuts.
Initially, Nezi’s journey began in the 90s with the Roots & Herbs Farm, growing vegetables and herbs at 8,000 feet elevation. This evolved into hemp cultivation after the 2018 Farm Bill, leading to their own CBD product line using CO2 extraction.
When New Mexico legalized cannabis in 2021, Michael comfortably transitioned to cannabis cultivation, channeling decades of agricultural experience into perfecting organic, terpene-rich strains that thrive in the region's harsh climate, with unique genetics like Wedding Crasher (THC 28%), Glookies (THC 28%), Ice Cream Cake (THC 23%); the sampled strains, Cap Junky and Super Boof are no slouches either.
Yerba's focus is on sustainable, living soil cultivation both indoors and outdoors, optimizing soil biology and mineral balance for the purest cannabis. They are expanding into solventless extraction in 2024 and already partner with retailers in Taos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and beyond.
